Best Joomla Blog Component 2007/05/05 08:58 Karma: 1
I want to add better blog functionality to some of the websites that I have set up. I am trying to figure out the best components to use for a blog.

I found this thread at the Joomla forums.

http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,113230.0.html

It looks like they may be using the basic joomla structure and adding the joomcomment component to accomplish the blog commenting.

With a bit more searching I found this article

http://www.compassdesigns.net/tutorials/joomla-tutorials/creating-a-blog-site-with-joomla.html

It is a good read and I went ahead and purchased the jomcomment component.

It all was very easy. In fact the comments are now up and running on Dr. Retarded.

I have a bit more to figure out but I believe that this comment component will fit my needs. There are other features that many blogs have but I do not think that I will need them at least not yet.

I've read that article at compassdesigns.net and feel its pretty thorough. I'd also say that that jomcomment is by far the most complete solution for commenting. While its not a full blogging tool, combined w/ the joomla content structuring, it makes a fine pair.

Now the folks @ azrul.com do have a complete blogging solution. Its called MyBlog and includes tagging, integration w/ technorati, and rss feeds.

It seems very well laid out, and aesthetically pleasing, which is a big plus to me. It does cost money, and you get what ya pay for.

You could always integrate WordPress into Joomla, as they do on the joomla developer blogs, and seems to work well. That just never sat well with me.
